It was during the AtoZ Rally of 2024 that the idea of a ‘truck-focused element’ to the event was first suggested… Suggested by operators of HGVs that were in the middle of planning the introduction of electric trucks to their fleet.
With new and innovative eHGV charging hubs opening and becoming operational this year, 2026 is seen very much as the ‘Year of the eHGV’. We’re working with the operators of the hubs to help plot out a route that showcases the 2 key elements here – ‘Range and Vehicle Capability’… And ‘eHGV Charging’… All delivered in real-world conditions.
We’re now calling for fleets that operate HGVs to join us. USE the Rally to trial the vehicle technology, in fully-laden conditions, to help you make the ‘right’ decisions as you chase that net-zero transport aspiration.
And we’re not stopping there. In 2023 we showed that EVs CAN tow! And not only that, but they can also do so impressively. But the myths still circulate that EVs are incapable of towing. So, why not join us with a trailer or even a caravan? Let’s put that myth to bed!
And finally, we want to hear from bus and coach manufacturers and operators. This is the perfect platform to really push the boundaries of what ’s possible in the world of clean public transport. We want eBus and eCoach technology to be a part of the narrative… Plus depots, with innovative charging on-site, to be an Official Checkpoint.

2026 sees the Rally run across two separate routes, over the 5 days…
With the introduction of ‘TRUCKS+TRAILERS’ in 2026, we will operate a route for the cars and vans, which will see teams do a mix of A and B road driving, motorways, etc. Taking in some remote and rural areas, we will once again demonstrate that operating an EV ‘out in the sticks’ is viable. And to tackle the myth that they’re slow and sluggish, we will also take in the highest roads in both Wales and England as we go!
And the TRUCKS+TRAILERS category will run as a stand-alone feature, taking in – for the main part – trunk roads and motorways, imitating their real-world purpose. And as we go, they will ‘Check In’ at some of the new eHGV charging hubs, demonstrating eHGV viability.
Where possible, we will double-up on some Checkpoints, so the Teams come together to share knowledge and expertise and increase the social media amplification. We will also look to bring the Teams together on a couple of the overnight stops too, increasing that comradery and feel-good factor, synonymous with the EV Rally.

We have uncovered the most popular (and some of the more obscure) myths that surround Electric Vehicles (EV) and are used as a barrier to prevent uptake. Our collective responsibility, as participants in the EV Rally, is to help communicate the positives, ‘BUST’ those myths and help educate and stimulate the market.
The MYTHBUSTERS EV Rally ‘26 aims to do just that. Our core values – Vehicle Capability, Charging Infrastructure and Clean Energy – will still run through the heart of the event and will feature in Checkpoints (CP) and our content, as we go. But we will aim to BUST a big and popular myth on each of the 5 days, and encourage all participating teams, plus the media crew, to combat additional ones, along the way.
We will also reach out to some educational establishments too, with a view to visiting and helping influence the ‘future e-mobility generation’.

The TRUCKS+TRAILERS feature will not only showcase eHGV capability, but we aim to once again demonstrate ‘towing power’ by hitching up trailers… And maybe even a caravan or two… And driving more than 1000 miles while we’re at it!

The TRUCKS+TRAILERS feature will not only showcase eHGV capability and towing power, but we aim to once again demonstrate that eBuses and eCoaches can ‘play the long game’… And that electrifying the depots is one thing… #collaboration and making that asset sweat, during the day, while the vehicles are out and active, is another!

THE NARRATIVE
The EV sector is still full of ‘FUD’… Myths! The ‘26 EV Rally will aim to ‘bust those myths’, in real-world conditions, where the participants and Checkpoint hosts will help us with ‘live’ demos of some of the most commons ones… As well as some that are not so well-known!
