Engie

ENGIE is a global leader in the energy transition, committed to accelerating the shift towards a carbon-neutral economy. With 98,000 employees across 30 countries, ENGIE operates across the entire energy value chain — from renewable generation and infrastructure to supply and energy management. Each year, the Group invests more than €10 billion to advance the transition and achieve its net-zero carbon target by 2045. In the UK, ENGIE employs around 1,300 people and operates a diverse portfolio of renewable generation and flexible storage assets across both electrons and molecules. At the heart of this portfolio are its pumped-storage hydro plants, which provide vital flexibility to the electricity system.
Dinorwig Power Station in North Wales is one of the largest facilities of its kind in Europe, built deep beneath Elidir Mountain with 16 kilometres of tunnels and capable of delivering power to the grid within seconds. Together with Ffestiniog Power Station — the UK’s first major pumped-storage facility, providing 360 MW of fast-responding power, these sites play a critical role in balancing supply and demand.
Through ongoing investment in hydro, offshore wind, storage and low-carbon solutions, ENGIE continues to drive forward the UK’s journey towards a secure, sustainable energy future.
