WHAT IS THE EV RALLY?
Put simply, the EV Rally (EVR) is a ‘demonstration’ of EV charging infrastructure, combined with clean and innovative vehicle technology. Sponsored by the UK’s leading leasing specialists, Lex Autolease, the idea is to demonstrate the roles that EVs can play in UK fleets… That no matter what the job, there is likely an EV available that can perform the task… Improving efficiency, saving money and, overall, helping reach net zero.
We will put approx. 50 EVs on the road, in July, and set them off from the Midlands, where they will embark on a 5-day, 1400+ mile ‘e-Rally’. We will take in many of the beautiful landmarks across the UK, but most importantly, showcase the charging infrastructure at the same time.
Following the successful introduction of electric vans in 2022, and the advancement to include eHGVs in 2023, we are now upping our game once more by increasing the mileage on the Rally, taking us over 1400 all-electric miles across the 5 days! Another ‘first’ for the EV Rally in the fleet sector!
Bringing ‘old school’ back to the future! Before the days of SatNav, there were things called road maps… A-to-Z Road Maps. And 2024 sees the EV Rally embrace the AtoZ theme, travelling through towns and cities, in alphabetical order! Beginning in the Midlands, we will travel clockwise, through the Lake District, across the far north of England into the north-east, before heading south into Yorkshire. We then head east, through Norwich and stopping at the Gridserve Electric Forecourt, before heading south-west, around London, across to Oxford, then south to Hampshire. On the home leg, we had up through Bristol, and then into Wales, calling in at Y Gelli Gandryll (Hay-on-Wye), then north to the ‘Zero Carbon’ Rhug Estate, before the final leg, across to Chester, to the offices of Rally sponsor, Lex Autolease.
Thanks to the huge social media success of the EV Rally, the idea is to once again showcase the event across various platforms, featuring pictures, video and LIVE broadcasts…
Each of the participating vehicles will carry branding on the bonnets and doors and will once again be driven by fleet professionals, key industry people, media and maybe even the odd celebrity or well-known face.
The EV Rally will take in EV charge points and hubs, clean energy projects and iconic landmarks, at key locations (Checkpoints – CPs), over the 5 days. Participants will stop at each CP, take a picture (proof) and share it across the various social media platforms, using pre-defined #Hashtags, etc.
By the end of the week, the EV Rally will have travelled the length and width of England and will have completed more than 1400 ‘e-Miles’!
LETS MAKE THIS EVENTFUL...
While we expect to make the news, on TV AND Radio, our reach on social media platforms will drive the interest in this, and our TEAMS and PARTNERS are key to us achieving this, as well as the smooth running of the event too. Here is a summary of what we can expect, if we’re CLEVER enough…
To attract the innovators in the business world, we will be making use of the LinkedIn platform to engage. Daily updates will ensure the narrative is constant, with a mix of engaging imagery and announcements. We hope to have more than 2 million connections (corporate and individual) across the participants.

Vehicle manufacturers in the UK, on average, have 60K followers… there will be 4 or 5 of them involved (300K)… An ‘Energy’ specialist will add 35K… A ‘Bank’, a further 130K… 2 x charging point specialists gets us 40K and the Roadside Assistance partner 35K. Between us all, we will be reaching more than three-quarters of a million followers with every Tweet!
Vehicle manufacturers lead the way in the UK on Insta, and we can expect 300-400K across the participating VMs… Add the bank, energy and charging companies, and we’re looking at an additional 30K+
